Allergic reaction

The South Bend Chocolate Company, South Bend, Indiana, is recalling 174 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend, a blend of chocolate covered mixed nuts and dried fruits, because it contains undeclared cashews, almonds, pecans, and Brazil nuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Bountiful Blend was sold via internet sales, mail order and may have been sold nationwide through our distributors to retail stores.

The Bountiful Blend product impacted by the recall is sold under The South Bend Chocolate Company brand name and was produced on or after March 18, 2010. The product under recall is: Bountiful Blend in 1-lb Bags. Products with labels reading Item #154,UPC #644823001549 are subject to this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

This recall was initiated after it was discovered that Bountiful Blend containing cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts were not listed on the product's labeling. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by the printing of ingredient statements and was cut off before the listing of nuts printed.

Consumers who have purchased 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend are urged to contact The South Bend Chocolate Company at 574-233-2577 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

“Sensory acuity.”

In Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) lingo, this is called having "sensory
acuity." In plainer English – it's when you get really "tuned in" to your body so
that you notice even the tiniest changes. The neat thing I discovered about
skinfold testing in general as compared to other methods, is that doing weekly
skinfold tests on yourself helps you build your sensory acuity and helps you get to
know your body better. When you grab your own skinfold and pinch it with a
caliper, (even the $20 plastic calipers), you can get a "feel" for skinfold thicknesses
and really understand what 10 mm or 7 mm or 3 mm really is like. You also
become aware of it when then skinfold gets smaller.
But getting back to the body fat scales... with all the previous admonitions taken
into consideration, the body fat scale is certainly a second option, especially if your
fat level is in the extreme range in either direction, or there's some other reason
you can't or don't want to use a caliper. All things considered though, the Accu
Measure gets my first place vote for home self testing, for most people, most of
the time.

There are many components of the food supply or human lifestyle that
have either been shown to or are at least speculated to impact cancer
either by increasing or decreasing its occurrence. Those that may provide
benefit include vitamins A, E, C, and folate, calcium and selenium, dietary
fibers, omega-3 fatty acids, carotenoids, organosulfur compounds, and
polyphenolic substances. Those that possibly increase the risk of cancer
include fat, alcohol, smoking, nitrites, aflatoxin, and pesticides.

What Is the Relationship Between Elements and Atoms?
Atoms are the building blocks of everything that exists. From the clothes
on your back to the car you drive to the food you eat—everything is
composed of atoms. Each individual atom belongs to only one element.
This is to say that even though there are an incomprehensible number of
atoms on this planet and the universe making up everything we know and
are yet to know, all of these atoms belong to only one of a hundred or so
elements (see Appendix A). This is similar to each one of the billions of
people living on this planet being native to only one of a hundred or so
countries.
   In a world where size is judged relative to the size of humans, the atom
is indeed minuscule. It has been said that if we could line up a million
atoms end to end they would barely cover the distance across the period
at the end of this sentence. However, they do indeed exist even though
you cannot see them with the naked eye.
   All atoms have a similar blueprint to the image displayed in Figure 1.1.
There are three principal particles called neutrons, protons, and elec-
trons. Because they are smaller than the atom that they come together to
form, they are often called subatomic particles. Protons bear a positive
charge (+) while electrons have a negative charge (−) and neutrons do not
bear any charge at all. By design an element has the same number of
electrons as protons and is said to be neutral. However, as we’ll see next
that isn’t how many atoms exist naturally.

Over the last few years

Over the last few years, under professional guidance, I have observed, researched, tested, experimented and tried out. I am now convinced that the method of losing weight I have worked out is both effective and easy to apply. As you read on, you will discover that we do not put on weight because we eat too much, but because we eat badly.

Cigarette mysteriously exploded in his mouth


An Indonesian tobacco company has agreed to pay the medical expenses of a man who lost six teeth when a cigarette mysteriously exploded in his mouth, AFP reported Tuesday.

Security guard Andi Susanto, 31, told Metro TV in an interview from his hospital bed that cigarette producer PT Nojorono Tobacco Indonesia had offered to pay for his treatment.

"The company's officials have talked to my family and we agreed to settle it amicably, as an out-of-court settlement. They will pay all the medical expenses," he said through bandaged lips.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown. Susanto said he wasn't chewing anything when he lit the Clas Mild cigarette and didn't notice anything strange about its odor, color or taste.

He said he would quit smoking after the incident.

Indonesia is one of the most profitable tobacco markets in the world, and more than 60 per cent of Indonesian men smoke.

They work out first thing.
Many of the women we've written about exercise way-early (often before 6 a.m). Why then? Making fitness the first thing they do guarantees it won't get bumped from their daily to-do lists.

How to do it: Try the tricks that our women use—keep a gym bag stocked and by the front door, and put your workout clothes near the bed before you go to sleep.

They eat real meals.
Skipping meals? Not an option for our weight-loss winners … anymore. Many actually did try to starve themselves before, which backfired and led to weight gain. But they've found that a routine of regular meals is vital to success.

How to do it: Plan your meals. Some women cook ahead on weekends to make healthy-weekday eating easy. Others rely on good-for-you prepared meals. Most important, make your plan easy to do so you'll stick with it.

One diet doesn't fit all.
We've seen women lose 50 pounds or more using Weight Watchers, Slim-Fast, SparkPeople.com, contests, and good ol' calorie counting. Lesson? The plan that works is the one you can live with. What's key is to know yourself.

How to do it: Don't give up if one diet fails you. If a program sounds like drudgery or deprivation, skip it and find one that gives you positive vibes—something you can do for the long haul.

They love to race.
Almost half of the women in our slim club do 10Ks, marathons, or triathlons. And they say that training for an event helps them to exercise routinely, especially after they reach their weight goals.

They talk. A lot.
